Looking For Invisible Braces? Here’s What You Need To Know.

Thanks to their discreet and subtle nature, invisible braces are a popular and attractive option for many individuals looking to improve their smile. That’s why we’re exploring all there is to know about invisible braces so you can make the best decision when it comes to shaping your smile. From the costs involved to the nature of treatment plans, your most pressing questions are sure to be answered!

What are invisible braces?

When it comes to teeth-straightening solutions, the dental industry has made significant progress in the past decades. Whilst traditional metal braces still remain a popular option, there are now more subtle solutions on offer.

As the name suggests, invisible braces provide individuals with a clearer, transparent solution. The aesthetic of invisible braces can differ. However, usually they are clear or tooth-coloured.

Drawing on the latest innovation and technology, Invisalign® is leading the way when it comes to invisible braces. Invisalign® offers clear, comfortable aligners to shape smiles. Whether you’ve heard about invisible braces in passing, or you’ve seen them on a friend but were unsure of what they were, invisible braces are an increasingly popular option. Due to their discrete nature, it’s unsurprising that invisible braces are gaining traction as an attractive and aesthetically appealing option.

Considering the digital age we now live in and the ever-evolving development of ground-breaking technologies, the world of teeth-straightening has never been so advanced. Catering to individual needs, preferences and mouth shapes, invisible braces offer a new and subtle solution.

As Invisalign® explains, “an industry-leading team of engineers and scientists… are continuously innovating to improve your path to a beautiful smile.”

Are invisible braces more expensive?

Considering the cost of both traditional and invisible braces is an important factor when determining what the best solution is for you and your needs.

However, the short answer to the question is generally NO. In fact, at our clinic the prices of Invisalign treatment usually are often lesser than that of traditional metal braces. We have various Invisalign packages to suit your individual needs and the cost of invisible braces is best determined on a case-by-case basis.

In recognising that each individual will need a personalised plan based on their needs, it’s recommended to come in for a complimentary Invisalign consultation. During this visit, we would aim to understand your concerns and smile goals. We will then proceed to examine your teeth and advice you if you are a candidate for Invisalign treatment. If you are, we would even take a scan of your teeth to work out how long your treatment could take.

When considering whether invisible braces are more expensive, let’s take a look at our prices for Invisalign® at The Dental Room. It’s important to note that in reviewing the costs mentioned below, the plan for each individual will differ based on their specific needs. That’s why we always recommend coming in for a consultation first.

Results may vary between individuals. Any dental procedure carries risks and benefits.

Invisalign FAQ

No, Invisalign® treatment is not exclusively provided by orthodontists. It’s important to note that both orthodontists and dentists must undertake the same specific training provided by Invisalign to become an accredited provider.

The outcomes and efficiency of the treatment is highly dependent on the operator driving the Invisalign treatment. Therefore, it is critical that you entrust your smile to the right dentist. So before you decide, it’s always best to do your research to find an accredited provider who is known for their experience in providing expert Invisalign® treatment. Looking at their clients’ reviews and ‘before and after’ images would give you an indication to how experienced the practice is in providing Invisalign treatments.

The Dental Room offers complimentary Invisalign consultation for clients to get to know us and learn more about the treatment. During this initial appointment with our Aesthetic dentists, we aim to understand your smile concerns and the desired outcomes and provide you an honest appraisal of treatment options. In doing so, you can rest assured that you have made an informed, researched and reliable decision when it comes to the teeth-straightening solution that you choose. It is likely that we have treated a case very similar to yours, so please feel free to ask us to show you a case study when you meet with us.

At The Dental Room, there are 4 types of Invisalign® packages on offer to cater for the varied needs of our clients. These packages are largely based upon the amount of teeth movement required and how many aligners are required to achieve these movements.

Express: Invisalign® Express is designed for very minor corrections that may be achieved using seven consecutive aligner changes or less. This package may be used in cases where a patient has previously had orthodontic treatment and experienced a very slight relapse.

Lite: Invisalign® Lite is commonly used for patients who have had a slight relapse in their previous orthodontic treatment or who have very small modifications they wish to make to the alignment of their teeth. Invisalign® Lite allows up to 14 aligner changes.

Moderate: Invisalign® Moderate is commonly used to treat patients with crowding or spacing and slight rotations. The moderate packages allow up to 26 aligner changes. It is designed for our clients whose treatment goals fall between the existing Invisalign Lite and Invisalign Comprehensive Packages and can be completed in the range of 5 to 12 months.

Comprehensive: Invisalign® Comprehensive is designed for those who require greater tooth movements. These cases generally take more time and often include crowding, spacing and significant rotations of the teeth.

Invisible braces have entirely altered how our clients feel about the notion of teeth straightening for the following reasons.

No one needs to know. Invisalign clear aligners are made out of a smooth clear plastic, so it is virtually invisible. They are so discreet that others may not even notice you have them on. This has given our clients the option to make the leap in a very discreet fashion.

Removable. As they can be removed in an instant, they can easily fit around your everyday lifestyle. Invisalign can be removed for eating, brushing, flossing and very occasionally for a special event. However, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND all our clients to wear the aligners for a minimum of 22 hours a day for best results.

Lesser pain. The technology that drives the treatment ensures that there will only be gradual and gentle yet effective teeth movement throughout your treatment. Most clients tell us they feel a mild discomfort on the first 2 days of wearing a new aligner.
Lesser dentist appointments. Invisalign frees up your schedule with visits to our clinic only once every 4 to 6 weeks.

Better oral health. Since Invisalign aligners are removable, you can still floss and brush your teeth as per normal which reduces plaque accumulation, risk of gingivitis and bad breath.

Clearer timetable through the Clincheck simulation program that we create for you. Invisalign treatment allows you to visualise every stage of the treatment, giving you a clearer picture of the treatment duration.

We are not able to provide you with a set time as it will depend on your specific needs. An approximate treatment time can be provided to you after your initial appointment with us. It’s exciting to know that with recent improvements in technology, our clients can wear their aligners for 7 days instead of 14 days in many cases. This has allowed us to achieve results in half the time. It’s also critical that your Invisalign treatment is planned efficiently from the start to minimise treatment time.

As we always say to our clients: A year of an Invisalign treatment can lead to a lifetime of improved dental health – plus a beautiful smile!

When it comes to invisalign vs braces, the answer lies in personal preference as well as the individualised recommendations that your dentist provides you with. With their experience in the field of orthodontics, our Aesthetic dentists are able to tell you which of these treatment options would be best for you. However, the main differences between traditional braces, clear braces and Invisalign® include Invisalign®’s subtle and discreet aesthetics and the ability to remove clear aligners each day, among others.
