Invisalign®

Traditionally, metal wires and brackets were the only way to straighten teeth. The evolution in technology and demand for aesthetics has paved the way for alternative solutions. Clients are spoilt for choice and our clinic is able to create stunning results for our clients in a way that we never thought possible.

Founded in 1997, Invisalign® is a series of clear plastic aligners worn 22 hours a day that gently move your teeth into a desired position with minimal discomfort. Thanks to their clear aligners, Invisalign® is hardly noticeable. It also does not get in the way of your lifestyle as you have the freedom of simply removing your aligners to eat or when attending that special event. You simply keep doing what you love doing whilst recreating your smile.

Considering the nature of Invisalign®, it is no surprise that this teeth-straightening solution is growing in popularity. Invisalign® has now helped over 8 million people all over the world unlock their smile potential. Is it your turn now?

Invisalign at The Dental Room

Why Choose The Dental Room?

Founded by leading aesthetic dentist Dr Shawn Rama, The Dental Room is leading the way when it comes to Invisalign® treatment. As an accredited Invisalign Platinum Provider in Melbourne (2019), our clinic is equipped with the latest scanning technology and treatment protocols; all geared toward unlocking the full potential of your smile. We aim to do this by putting our clients at the heart of the treatment and always creating strategies to improve their experience.

Invisalign has been a key treatment modality at our clinic and will continue to play a significant role as the practice looks to the future.

Facially-driven smile design in Invisalign treatment

A skill that sets Dr Shawn Rama from many is his craft in using facially-driven smile principles in Invisalign treatment. Having straight teeth is one thing; however having straight teeth to enhance facial balance is a whole different thing. There is a difference between a great smile and a ‘WOW’ smile.

At The Dental Room, Dr Shawn uses facial landmarks to dictate tooth position with consideration to facial aesthetics. During the consultation, we do a full facial analysis and take scans or 3D moulds of your teeth; radiographs and photos so that we can analyse the balance between the teeth/overall smile and the rest of the face. This is a concept called facially-driven smile design – where we are using facial landmarks to dictate tooth position that can enhance esthetics.

If teeth straightening has been on your mind, arrange a complimentary consultation at The Dental Room today to find out if Invisalign is suitable for you.

Start with a complimentary Invisalign® consultation
Your future smile starts here. During this initial appointment with our Aesthetic dentists, we aim to understand your smile concerns and the desired outcomes. Following a full cosmetic evaluation, possible treatment options are presented to you. 3D smile scans and studio photographs are likely to be taken to begin planning your future smile.

  1. Clincheck discussion
This is a very exciting part of your Invisalign journey! The 3D smile scan taken at the initial appointment is used to map out a 3D custom simulation called Clincheck. During this appointment, you will get to see an accurate preview of your teeth moving from the moment you start wearing Invisalign, to the day you remove them. We value your input and will work closely with you to make unlimited changes to the smile design prior to formalising the plan. We will also be able to provide a formal quotation of the treatment after this.
  2. Fitting of your first clear aligners
During this first fitting appointment, you will visit us to pick up your first few sets of aligners. We make sure that your aligners fit perfectly for you and your teeth and provide all the information you need to look after your aligners. You will wear each aligner for one to two weeks as prescribed by your dentist. For your convenience, three sets of aligners will usually be dispensed to you at each appointment to reduce your number of visits. Most clients typically visit us once a month and each appointment goes on for approximately 10 minutes. Because we know, fewer dentist visits means more time to enjoy life!
  3. Support appointments
With any treatment at The Dental Room, you are never alone. These monthly appointments are designed to give you the support that you require. During these appointments, we would check the progress of your treatment, give you the next series of aligners and address any concerns you may have.
  4. Treatment completion
Once the teeth are in the perfect position, many of our packages include a complimentary teeth whitening treatment to brighten the smile. A retainer will also be made to help maintain the positions of your teeth. We then leave you to go fill the world with your beautiful smile!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need to see an Orthodontist for Invisalign®?2020-06-09T14:07:09+10:00

No, Invisalign® treatment is not exclusively provided by orthodontists. It’s important to note that both orthodontists and dentists must undertake the same specific training provided by Invisalign to become an accredited provider.

The outcomes and efficiency of the treatment is highly dependent on the operator driving the Invisalign treatment. Therefore, it is critical that you entrust your smile to the right dentist. So before you decide, it’s always best to do your research to find an accredited provider who is known for their experience in providing expert Invisalign® treatment. Looking at their clients’ reviews and ‘before and after’ images would give you an indication to how experienced the practice is in providing Invisalign treatments.

The Dental Room offers complimentary Invisalign consultation for clients to get to know us and learn more about the treatment. During this initial appointment with our Aesthetic dentists, we aim to understand your smile concerns and the desired outcomes and provide you an honest appraisal of treatment options. In doing so, you can rest assured that you have made an informed, researched and reliable decision when it comes to the teeth-straightening solution that you choose. It is likely that we have treated a case very similar to yours, so please feel free to ask us to show you a case study when you meet with us.

What are the different types of Invisalign® available? (i7, LITE, FULL, TEEN)2020-04-21T08:50:24+10:00

At The Dental Room, there are 4 types of Invisalign® packages on offer to cater for the varied needs of our clients. These packages are largely based upon the amount of teeth movement required and how many aligners are required to achieve these movements.

Express:  Invisalign® Express is designed for very minor corrections that may be achieved using seven consecutive aligner changes or less. This package may be used in cases where a patient has previously had orthodontic treatment and experienced a very slight relapse.

Lite: Invisalign® Lite is commonly used for patients who have had a slight relapse in their previous orthodontic treatment or who have very small modifications they wish to make to the alignment of their teeth. Invisalign® Lite allows up to 14 aligner changes.

Moderate: Invisalign® Moderate is commonly used to treat patients with crowding or spacing and slight rotations. The moderate packages allow up to 26 aligner changes. It is designed for our clients whose treatment goals fall between the existing Invisalign Lite and Invisalign Comprehensive Packages and can be completed in the range of 5 to 12 months.

Comprehensive: Invisalign® Comprehensive is designed for those who require greater tooth movements. These cases generally take more time and often include crowding, spacing and significant rotations of the teeth.

Is Invisalign® suitable for me?2020-04-21T08:51:03+10:00

What are the advantages of Invisalign®?2020-04-21T08:51:53+10:00

Invisible braces have entirely altered how our clients feel about the notion of teeth straightening for the following reasons.

  1. No one needs to know. Invisalign clear aligners are made out of a smooth clear plastic, so it is virtually invisible. They are so discreet that others may not even notice you have them on. This has given our clients the option to make the leap in a very discreet fashion.
  2. Removable. As they can be removed in an instant, they can easily fit around your everyday lifestyle. Invisalign can be removed for eating, brushing, flossing and very occasionally for a special event. However, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND all our clients to wear the aligners for a minimum of 22 hours a day for best results.
  3. Lesser pain. The technology that drives the treatment ensures that there will only be gradual and gentle yet effective teeth movement throughout your treatment. Most clients tell us they feel a mild discomfort on the first 2 days of wearing a new aligner.
  4. Lesser dentist appointments. Invisalign frees up your schedule with visits to our clinic only once every 4 to 6 weeks.
  5. Better oral health. Since Invisalign aligners are removable, you can still floss and brush your teeth as per normal which reduces plaque accumulation, risk of gingivitis and bad breath.
  6. Clearer timetable through the Clincheck simulation program that we create for you. Invisalign treatment allows you to visualise every stage of the treatment, giving you a clearer picture of the treatment duration.
How long will it take to straighten my teeth?2020-04-21T08:52:32+10:00

We are not able to provide you with a set time as it will depend on your specific needs. An approximate treatment time can be provided to you after your initial appointment with us. It’s exciting to know that with recent improvements in technology, our clients can wear their aligners for 7 days instead of 14 days in many cases. This has allowed us to achieve results in half the time. It’s also critical that your Invisalign treatment is planned efficiently from the start to minimise treatment time.

As we always say to our clients: A year of an Invisalign treatment can lead to a lifetime of improved dental health – plus a beautiful smile!

Do you offer payment plans?2020-06-09T14:12:22+10:00

Yes. With our payment plan options, the smile you want might be a lot more affordable than you think.

To get started, simply give us a call on 1300 810 333. We can provide you with the specific cost of Invisalign® in Melbourne, the differences in price is between treatment types and payment plan options.

Is Invisalign® treatment painful?2020-04-21T08:53:59+10:00

The technology that drives the treatment and the way we formulate your tooth movements ensures that there will only be gradual and gentle yet effective teeth movement throughout your treatment. Most clients tell us they feel a mild discomfort on the first 2 days of wearing a new aligner.

How to choose between Invisalign® or braces?2020-06-09T14:04:05+10:00

When it comes to invisalign vs braces, the answer lies in personal preference as well as the individualised recommendations that your dentist provides you with.  With their experience in the field of orthodontics, our Aesthetic dentists are able to tell you which of these treatment options would be best for you. However, the main differences between traditional braces, clear braces and Invisalign® include Invisalign®’s subtle and discreet aesthetics and the ability to remove clear aligners each day, among others.
